This week I’m focusing on a giving opportunity to help our students!
CoBA faculty, staff, volunteers, and students forge lifelong connections from college entrance through graduation and beyond. Many of our students are first generation college students and we all want to help these students succeed. One way we can do that concretely is to participate in Giving Tuesday, November 29, 2016. .
Each gift given on Giving Tuesday will be matched up to $1,000 per gift and $25,000 for total gifts by CSUSM Foundation Board Member and donor, Jack Raymond. We challenge you to give a gift that would enable another student to graduate next year by designating your gift to CoBA. Whether large or small, gifts help build the future of our community and will leave a lasting legacy to our students.
I am delighted to announce that former CEO and experienced entrepreneur Emilie Hersh and her husband, Mark, a longtime employee at Carlsbad-based ViaSat, are pledging $50,000 for scholarships and other initiatives in CoBA. Their gift, in five annual installments of $10,000 each, was provided in conjunction with National Giving Day on Nov. 29.
Emilie’s involvement with our college includes serving on our college advisory board since May 2011, serving as a co-host for the “In the Executive’s Chair’s” course, serving as an Executive in Residence, and co-creating the Professional Mentor Program, which provides students a unique opportunity to learn directly from business professionals in a one-on-one relationship. Mark began working with the University about the same time. Over the years, he has served on our Global Supply Chain Management Advisory Board and the Management Information Systems Advisory Board as well as the Athletic Director’s Council.
I am truly grateful for Emilie and Mark’s generous contribution, as well as the time and talents they bring to our students.
Please consider designating a gift to CoBA on Giving Tuesday, November 29, 2016.
